A resignation letter generator that sounds like you

Fill in six details and get a clear, polite letter with your last working day worked out. It runs in your browser and nothing is stored.

Build your resignation letter

Enter your details, pick a tone and a notice period. The letter and your last working day update as you type.

The letter updates as you type. Square brackets mark anything you have not filled in yet.

How it works

What the generator actually does

It counts the notice for you

Pick the date of your letter and a notice period. The tool adds whole weeks, then shows the weekday of your last day. If the date falls on a weekend it moves to Monday and says so.

Three tones, one structure

Warm, neutral and brief all keep the same order: the decision, the date, the optional reason, thanks, handover. Only the phrasing changes, so you can compare how each one reads.

Optional parts stay optional

The reason, the thank-you and the handover offer are switches. Leave any of them off and the letter closes up cleanly, with no dangling sentence where the paragraph used to be.

Why the letter matters

Short, dated and boring is the goal

A resignation letter is a record, not a speech. HR files it, your manager forwards it, and months later someone may check the date on it. That is why it should state three things plainly: that you are resigning, from which role, and on which day you finish. Everything else is courtesy. People tend to write too much because the moment feels weighty, then regret a line about the workload or the team. The generator keeps the facts first and the feelings short. The sentences you add yourself, a real word of thanks or the one project you will miss, are the part worth your time, and the part no template should write for you.

Three steps to a letter you can send today

  1. 1

    Fill in the facts

Your name, your manager, your title, the company and the date. If you leave a field empty, a bracket shows where it goes, so nothing gets sent with a blank in it.

  2. 2

    Choose what to say

Set the notice period your contract asks for, pick a tone, and decide whether to give a reason. A private resignation is a normal one.

  3. 3

    Copy, read aloud, send

Copy the letter into an email or document and read it once out loud. Change any sentence that does not sound like you, then send it after you have told your manager in person.

Common questions

Is the resignation letter generator free
Yes. There is no signup, no email capture and no limit on how many versions you produce. Change a field and the letter rewrites itself.
Is anything I type sent to a server
No. The letter is assembled in your browser from the fields you fill in. Close the tab and it is gone. The only thing recorded is an anonymous count that the tool was used.
How long should my notice period be
Check your contract first, because it overrides any custom. In the UK the legal minimum is one week once you have worked for a month or more, and many contracts ask for four or more. In the US, employment is usually at will and two weeks is the convention, not the law.
Do I have to give a reason for leaving
No. A resignation letter confirms the decision and the date. Stating a reason is optional, and "None, keep it private" is a perfectly good choice. If you do give one, keep it to a single neutral sentence.
Why does the last working day sometimes move to a Monday
The tool counts whole weeks from the date of your letter. If that lands on a Saturday or Sunday, it moves to the following Monday so the date is a real working day. Edit the date in the letter if your contract counts differently.
Should I send the letter before or after telling my manager
Tell your manager first, in person or on a call, then send the letter the same day. The letter is the record. It should never be the way your manager finds out.
Can I edit the letter after generating it
Yes, and you should. The output box is text you copy into your email or document, then adjust until it sounds like you. The generator supplies the structure. The personal sentences stay yours.

Resigning is one letter. The rest of your writing repeats.

Cover letters, follow-ups and cold emails all follow a structure you will write again. Ohboiler keeps those structures ready, with the personal part left for you.
