Enhancv Review: A Resume Builder Read as a Writing Tool
Pricing worked out line by line, the ATS check inspected, and customer reviews read across platforms.
Summary
This Enhancv review treats the resume builder as a writing tool. Enhancv pairs a strong layout engine with an ATS check of 27 items and one-click tailoring, from $16.50 a month on the six-month plan. Its AI editor divides users: 14 of the 20 latest Trustpilot reviews give five stars, and the six low ratings mostly describe unwanted rewrites and slow support. There is no Word export. We did not subscribe, so treat our score as a research score.
Enhancv is a resume builder with a real ATS check and one-click tailoring, priced at $39 monthly or $16.50 a month on the six-month plan. We read it as a writing tool and found a strong layout engine and a divisive AI editor: 14 of the 20 latest Trustpilot reviews give five stars, and the six low ratings mostly describe rewrites the author did not want.

This is a desk review, not a 30 day trial. On 25 October 2026 we loaded the Enhancv home page, pricing page, resume checker, template catalogue and cover letter generator, took our own screenshots of each, and read the structured pricing data behind the pricing page. We then read the Trustpilot profile and its 20 most recent reviews, checked the G2 and Product Hunt listings, and searched Reddit and competing review sites for recurring complaints.
We did not create an account, upload a resume, or run the AI editor, so every statement about how the editor behaves is attributed to Enhancv's own pages or to named customer reviews. Where a claim is Enhancv's own, we say so. Our score is a research score and should move once someone runs a full paid test.
Who Enhancv suits
YES if you...
- Job seekers who want a designed two column resume and an ATS check in one editor
- People applying to many roles who will tailor the same resume repeatedly over six to eight weeks
- Senior professionals who care about layout and can edit AI suggestions with a critical eye
NO if you...
- Anyone who has to send a Word file, because Enhancv exports PDF and TXT only
- Writers who already have tight bullet points and do not want an assistant rewriting them
- Applicants who need a UK or German format out of the box, given the reported US bias and a GPA field complaint

Hidden costs & gotchas
- Plans renew automatically until you cancel, so a lapsed reminder costs a full period
- After the 7 day free plan you cannot download, even though you can still edit
- No Word export, so a recruiter who needs .docx forces you into another tool
- Refunds are offered when Enhancv's own fault breaks the service, not as a blanket guarantee

Pros and cons
Pros
- Layout is the strongest part of the product Customers praise templates and the editor in the Trustpilot summary, and the home page shows 15 distinct layouts from single column to timeline.
- ATS check and tailoring live inside the editor You paste a job ad and see a match score and keyword gaps, with changes highlighted rather than applied silently, according to Enhancv's own description.
- A free checker sits outside the paid editor The checker page offers a 27 check scan from an upload box, so you can see a score before you pay.
- Enhancv answers negative reviews in public All six low ratings in our sample carry a reply, five mentioning a refund.
Cons
- No Word export, only PDF and TXT Enhancv explains this as a formatting safeguard. It still blocks anyone whose recruiter wants an editable file.
- AI editor rewrites text people wrote themselves Three of the six low Trustpilot ratings describe the assistant altering dates, deleting job titles or flattening a personal voice.
- Support is slow when the editor misbehaves Enhancv states a 24 hour reply target on weekdays. Two reviewers describe waiting a day or more for a reply.
- Template claims on the site contradict each other The pricing page promises hundreds of templates, while its own FAQ says it offers a couple of layouts as a starting point.
Good frame, uneven writing help
Enhancv is worth a week of the free plan if you want a resume that looks designed and checks itself against a job ad. The layout work is the part customers agree on, and the pricing becomes reasonable once you pick the quarterly or six-month plan.
The writing assistance is where opinions split. Happy reviewers describe fast tailoring. Unhappy ones describe an assistant that rewrites what they had already got right. Use Enhancv for structure and checks, keep the sentences yours, and read the exported PDF before you send it.
We score it 6.8 out of 10 on desk research, deliberately cautious: we have not run the editor, the export or the support desk ourselves.
- Layout and templates 8/10 Most praised part of the product
- Writing assistance 6/10 Split reviews, no hands-on test
- ATS tooling 7/10 27 checks, free to try
- Pricing clarity 6/10 Fair at 3 or 6 months, steep at $39
- Support (as reported) 5.5/10 Slow replies in recent reviews
- Export flexibility 5/10 PDF and TXT only
